my name is maya, i am a 16 year old drummer and i have been playing for slightly under 2 years. I began to drum during lockdown. we owned an amazing stage kit that sat there isolated in my garden shed for a decade, no one hardly touched it or played it for years. however when it came to the worst of the pandemic, i thought i would entertain myself and pick up a little hobby. I thought to myself that drumming would be the best idea, since it was such an amazing opportunity to work on some skills. The second I made my way down to my shed and started playing the drums, i become obsessed, I was just waiting for the next day to come so I could go outside and drum my heart out. i started to develop my coordination, skill and technique, and I have never stopped ever since. During the worst of the Ukrainian war, my family and I decided to take part in helping those in need. We looked after a family of three in our home for three weeks. during this time, I decided to teach one of the children how to play the drums. because of this, we really got to bond and open up through playing.
