Hi! I’m Izzy, I’m 14 and I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I’ve always loved music, starting tap dance at 4 to improve my lack of balance and coordination, which people say is due to my hearing loss. I started playing drums at School of Rock, Chapel Hill when I was nine after playing them at a camp, and immediately falling in love. After begging for a year, my parents finally agreed for me to start taking lessons and I started drumming on the 30 year old kit that used to sit in my grandmas attic from when my uncle was a kid. Since then, I have found a lot of inspiration from drummers like Matt Helders, Keith Moon, and Neil Peart. I would like to thank my drum teacher, Will, and my mentors Gene Medler and Nicholas Van Young. Thanks to them I have had the opportunities to drum at several really cool venues around town (such as the Cat’s Cradle), and travel all over the US for dance events and shows. I am also a part of my schools GSA, and we have held several successful fundraisers for the Trevor Project, and I regularly go and perform at schools around the state with my dance company, NCYTE, to teach kids about the ways music and dance have influenced history. The song I will be playing is a Farewell to Kings, which is one of my favorite Rush songs, and my favorite song to play at the moment. Please enjoy!
Love Neil Peart! Nice job!
Yay, SORCH!
