My name is Charlee Vliet. I live in Wilmington, NC and I am 16. I started playing drums a few years ago when I started taking drum lessons at School of Rock. I am a member of the School of Rock Wilmington house band. I chose to play The Spirit of Radio because it’s one of my favorite Rush songs. I love Neil Peart because his drumming is very technical and he has a lot of cool fills. He is also able to switch between time signatures very smoothly. The hardest part of learning this song was the intro because it lines up exactly with the bass so I had to play it very accurately. This is the hardest song I’ve ever learned. I want to thank my drum teacher John because I couldn’t have learned this song without his help. I wouldn’t know anything about drums without him because he’s pretty much taught me everything I know about drumming. I play some other instruments like guitar and keyboard but I like drumming the most because I get to be super loud sometimes.
