Hello my name is Madison aka MADIKATZ
I am 8 years old and I live in Ontario Canada. I am very exited to enter the HLAG Contest because this is my first contest ever. I am currently working on and learning several songs but Kryptonie was the first one I have completed.
When I could barley walk my Grandma would take me to her Djembe drum circles and let me join in. In kindergarten my Dad brought home an electric drum kit and my curiosity flowed. April 2022 I got my first acoustic kit and the journey continued. I have been playing drums off and on for a few years now and just started lessons in the fall.
I have always had an interest in all kinds or music and instruments but the drums kept calling me back.
I drum on everything, the kitchen table, the sofa, in the shower and my Mom even said I was drumming in my sleep. When I am not near my drums I like to twirl and spin my sticks or anything close. (pen, branch, fork) One of my favourite things to do on the drums is what I call free play. During this time I can do anything I want. I usually make up a solo, play fast and then wind down with trying to discover new beats and fill combinations.
I started playing drums because my Dad is a guitarist and when he plays we can both jam together and it is super fun.
My influences are Travis Barker, Maytell, KRISS, Kristina Schiano, Anastasia Sereda and Casey Cooper. I enjoy each drummer for different reasons.
My other interests are cooking, swimming, drawing, skating and photography.
I hope with my videos and playing I can inspire other kids and people of any age to play or do something fun and that makes them happy.
