Maneswita is a Multi-instrumentalist, Composer and Drum educator from India. She’s greatly influenced by Rock, Blues, Jazz, World and Indian music. Having been performing on stage since the age of 7, she has participated in various music competitions and performed at several places around India and abroad, as a drummer, guitarist and vocalist.
She is one of the founding members and drummer of a Delhi based all girl band called The Dragonfly Effect and recently came up with an initiative called Queens of Thrones, which featured 14 female drummers and percussionists from all around India in The World’s Biggest Online Drum Collab. QUEENS OF THRONES is an initiative to empower, support and motivate female musicians by creating a healthy learning environment in the form of collaborations.
Maneswita says that she happened to be a drummer by chance when she auditioned for her school’s all girl band back in 2011 as a guitarist, but was asked to try out the drums instead and immediately fell in love with the instrument.
In 2016, she won a Global Online Music Competition organised by Toyota called Feeling the Street, which had a participation of more than 350 musicians from across the globe, and got the opportunity to perform around Australia with a group of 5 other International Musicians as a band where they came up with their own original composition called Limit Is the Sky.
She has also worked with a group of experienced international music healers on music healing projects. Maneswita was featured on a programme called Rock The Night, which was aired on the national TV channel “Doordarshan”, and in Hyundai’s TVC called Hyundai Aura-Light Up.
In addition to drumset, Maneswita plays Djembe, darbuka and cajon— applying traditional Indian rhythms to these world percussion instruments. She aspires to be a versatile musician and hopes to inspire people, to break the stereotype and follow their dreams.
