Camilla Collet

Italy

Hello folks!
I’m Camilla and I’ve been playing drums since I was 13 years old. I started as a rock drummer, then I completed my studies in jazz drumming at the Conservatory in Italy. Now I play drums in a few different projects, and the most important to me is called “Filaments of Existence” – a drums and saxophone duo in which we both use live electronics and effects to enrich the sound of our band. I’m always curious and inclined to explore sounds that are new to me in order to grow my knowledge about music, drumming, and playing in general.
When I’m not busy with rehearsals and concerts, I teach in some music schools and I’m happy to see that the more time passes, the more female drum students enroll to schools. If I think about when I started, in the mid ’00s, it was rare to see so many female drummers like nowadays. So, I’m glad that we’ve been growing in number!
As for the track, this is “Fer Agus”, a tune that I composed and produced during the pandemic. “Fer Agus” is a modification of the word “Ferragosto”, a holiday in Italy that occurs on the 15th of August. That’s why the song is mainly divided in 15/8, but there are also a B part in 13/8 and few bars in 9/8.
Hope you like it!

Very nicely done! Congratulations on not only playing the song well but composing it too. I like the different time signature also.
