A drummer/percussionist for over twenty-five years with extensive performance experience. Thought it would be fun to enter into the Hit Like a Girl contest as I am thrilled at the explosion of girl/women drummers in recent years.
The track I am playing along with is an original song I wrote called, “Martha Graham”. The true life Martha Graham was a trailblazer in Modern Dance in the early 20th Century and her dance techniques I found inspiring. Many of them were in six or six-counts (I was a dance accompanist), hence the main riff is in six. The recording was by an all-female power trio I was a member of in Chicago, 1/2 Mad Poet. Enjoy!
