It seems like I must’ve been a drummer in a rock band in a previous life, because I’ve had this nagging urge to learn to play drums for most of my life. So 6 years ago I finally acted on it and started taking lessons from a patient, encouraging teacher in central Ohio, Curt Hudberg. A couple years in, some musician friends gave me opportunities to play, and the performance flame was fanned! Today I play in a new punk rock band, The Brian Clash Band, and a cover band, The Clark Twins Band, and LOVE every minute of it! I’m influenced by so many drummers, locally, nationally, and internationally: Curt Hudberg, Matt Jones, Steven Day Carter, Eric Dewees, Sina, Jess Bowen, Sarah Thawer, Cindy Blackman, Sheila E., and so many more! The producer for my punk band is the legendary Willie Phoenix, international recording and touring song writer/singer/guitarist/band leader for the last 50 years. We are so privileged! Glad you entered this contest. Your sense of humor is refreshing. Life should be fun even while focusing on an important task. I grew up in Sandusky, Ohio and marched in the 1960’s with Sandusky Eaglettes All Girl Drum and Bugle Corps. I really liked your entry’s genre. My favorite tune to play without thinking is: Stray Cat”s Rock This Town!
