My name is Aryssa Gall. I am 8 years old and from Melbourne, Australia. This is my second year participating in HLAG contest. For my HLAG entry this year, I have chosen to drum my favourite song, Beggin’ by Måneskin. It was a challenging song for me to learn at first but I have developed so many drumming skills from this song. Apart from drumming, I am also active in boxing and swimming.
My passion in drumming started since I was a little girl. I just love the sound of drums. I had always asked my parents to play drums and eventually they gave in and sent me for drumming lessons when I was 5. I am the only drummer in my family. I often perform at concerts and events and have always enjoyed doing it. I hope I can be a famous drummer one day.
My hero is the amazing Turkish drummer Leyan Senay (Meow the Drums). I also admire and consider all my HLAG drum sisters from all over the world my heroes. They are all very inspiring and always make me want to have fun and do more in drumming.
Recently, I was honoured to be selected as the advocate in a new collaboration between HLAG and PoundFit. My role is to talk and demonstrate the connection between wellness and drumming. The goal of this program is to encourage girls and women to apply rhythmic exercises to real drumming. I was also the face for HLAG marketing on digitalDrummer online magazine in their Feb 2023 edition. I have also produced a tutorial video for HLAG website to introduce their new website features for the contest this year. I believe that all these activities that I am involved in have made an IMPACT in some ways to many people around the world.
